From my point of view - the team behind the AM manufacturing of parts is much more important than the hardware itself on which it is manufactured. Customer communication and interdepartmental coordination, as well as good engineering, are essential to successfully build an AM component.

One of the biggest challenges is sales. They have to find the right use case that has potential for additive manufacturing.
What is the benefit of additive manufacturing for the use case? Does it have the potential for volume production?

Since additive manufacturing is often not applied as a single process, the immediate question is whether post-processing is also available in-house to refine the part to be manufactured. Once the process chain is in place, the pressure is on to reduce the cost per part to make it attractive to the customer. Order and capacity planning is optimized to the last detail in order to be able to offer competitive prices. Material prices are renegotiated, KPI's are defined to best serve the use case.

The component must be released for printing as soon as possible. Design screening - communication with the customer - preparation of parameters - sending the job to the machine and printing. After the first few jobs, there is usually a need for further adjustments to meet the customer's requirements, or to be able to print the part at all. Not an easy job!
I am lucky to work with a great team!

Who do you think is still missing in the Ultimate Team and What are your experiences in the AM area - in terms of interaction between the different departments?
Looking forward to your opinion!
